"les Sabines"...

... is a project initiated in 1985, by taking regularly  photomatons of my face.

There is no trick, no disguise, all the pictures show me at various stages of my life.

It ended in 2005, as the analog photomatons were more and more replaced by digital machines ...

I called it "les Sabines" since it reffers to my own surname as well as the "Rape of the Sabine women", a legendary episode of the early Roman hystory:

"Legend says that Romans abducted Sabine women to populate the newly built town, the first recorded example of bride kidnapping. The resultant conflict
ended only by the women throwing themselves and their children between the armies of their fathers and their husbands. The Rape of the Sabine women
("rape" in this context meaning "kidnapping" rather than its modern meaning, see raptio) became a common motif in art; the women ending the war forms
a less frequent but still reappearing motif."

It is also called "les Sabines" because of the short novel by Marcel Aymé,"Les Sabines", in which the main character, a "Sabine", is blessed with the gift of ubiquity...

The final form of this work is to be shown either on the Internet or as digital enlargement, always accompanied by a few words.
